Interesting Red Sox-Bo Bichette Reporting Surfaces
Boston Red Sox fans everywhere perked up when Jon Heyman of the The New York Post recently pinpointed five bats that Boston is reportedly pursuing this offseason, with the supposed goal of landing two of them. Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso, and Kyle Schwarber were among the names listed by Heyman (no surprises there), but one guy left out was Bo Bichette.
Bichette’s omission was contrasted by a new report from MLB.com’s Ian Browne published Saturday suggesting that the Red Sox are still interested in the two-time All-Star.
“The Red Sox will be monitoring the free agent situations of Bo Bichette and Kyle Schwarber closely,” Browne wrote. “Both of those players are attached to the qualifying offer, which means Boston will have to provide Draft compensation in the event of a signing.”
Bichette has also been linked this month to the Red Sox by WEEI’s Rob Bradford.
Bichette hit .311/ .357/ .483 in 2025 with 18 home runs and 94 RBI in 139 games. Despite a late-season knee sprain sidelining him for the ALCS, he returned for the World Series at second base, going 5-for-16 with a pivotal three-run blast off Shohei Ohtani in Game 7’s third inning.
Now 27 years old and a free agent after declining his $22 million qualifying offer, Bichette could land a $200-plus million deal. A return to Toronto alongside Vladimir Guerrero Jr. still seems like the most likely outcome, but anything can happen in free agency.
