TreVeyon Henderson Joins Exclusive Rob Gronkowski Club After Patriots Beat Jets

The New England Patriots’ 27-14 victory over the New York Jets in Week 11 was fueled by rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson. And with legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski in attendance for this game, Henderson found a way to join an exclusive club with the future Hall of Famer.

Last week, Gronkowski signed a one-day contract that allowed him to retire with the Patriots, and he ended up being the “Keeper of the Light” for this game. Considering all Gronk accomplished during his time with the Pats, it was great to see him back at Gillette Stadium.

In the process, Henderson ended up paying tribute to Gronkowski by doing what he did best during his playing career: score touchdowns. Henderson scored all three of the Pats’ touchdowns, and he joined Gronk as the only rookies in franchise history to find the end zone three times in one game.

Anytime you get mentioned in the same breath as Gronkowski, it’s clear you are doing something right. In nine seasons with New England, Gronk caught 521 passes for 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns, while also helping the team win its three most recent Super Bowls.

After a bit of a slow start to his NFL career, Henderson has exploded for five touchdowns over his past two games. Even with Rhamondre Stevenson appearing to be close to returning from a toe injury, Henderson figures to play a big role out of the backfield moving forward.

A lot of things have gone right for the Pats on offense this season, and Henderson’s sudden star turn is the latest example. N.E. will be back in action in Week 12, as they will hit the road for a clash with the Cincinnati Bengals.
