SEAN CRIGHTON has urged his Queen’s Park players to ‘do it for Foxy’ following the defender’s horror injury on Saturday.
The vice-captain was stretchered off midway through the first half against Partick Thistle on Saturday.
Charlie was discharged from hospital on Sunday and the Spiders head-coach has urged his players to rally behind their team-mate – who is a big presence in dressing rooms at The city Stadium and Lochinch.
Crighton said: “The team all went in to see Charlie after the match.
“He’s absolutely devastated but the character of the guy he’s more disappointed for me and for the club than himself. That’s the kind of character he is. It was a really sore day for the club in the result, performance and obviously a sore one for Charlie.
“We’ve just had two clean sheets and then been battered 5-0 but a positive for us –  the only one – is that we managed to get Josh Fowler back on the pitch. I had to take him off again late because we need to ensure he’s OK and there was no point risking him further.
“But the main thing for us just now is rallying around Charlie and I’ve told the team that.
“Hopefully we can get a reaction and as I’ve told the players, we’re doing it for him now.”
having led 1-0 when the injury – and eight-minute stoppage for treatment – occurred.
Crighton added: “Defensively, I didn’t think Thistle were opening us up in the first half but the two efforts outside the box we need to do better with and switch on.
“They’re unbelievable finishes but we need to do better in the lead-up. They are goals we shouldn’t lose.
“All in all it was a devastating day, it was just not like us compared to last week when we were warriors.
“Now we need to make sure we galvanise and I think Charlie will be able to help with that.
“We need to get behind him, support him over these next few days and hopefully turn it around against Raith.
“We need to start getting home wins.”
