Pioli stands firm on ‘I won’t resign’ pledge but Fiorentina are running out of time
When asked directly after Wednesday’s defeat away to Inter, Stefano Pioli made it very clear that he had no intention of resigning, even if the situation were to collapse further. As if Fiorentina weren’t already spinning in a blender.
No one could have imagined a home defeat to Lecce, but now the numbers are grim: six losses and four draws, a sporting agony.
Nobody to blame but Pioli at Fiorentina
Once and for all, it’s clear that, in light of these results, the blame can’t be pinned on the fans or the supposed “pressure,” a banal excuse we’ve already heard in recent weeks.
Now a solution has to be found, especially if Pioli sticks to his stance and refuses to step down.
It could come through a mutual termination agreement, though that would mean settling a contract worth over €3 million net per season on a three-year deal.
One thing is certain: Fiorentina can no longer afford to wait.
