Raheem Morris Commends Drake Maye Before Patriots-Falcons

Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris expressed his admiration for New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye ahead of Sunday’s game.

“No, he’s a very good football player,” Morris said on Monday when reporters asked if he’s surprised by Mayes’ success, via Carlos A. Lopez. “He’s doing a great job. He’s being well coached by Josh (McDaniels). They got it goin’ on and I like what they’re doing.”

Maye has taken his performance to the next level this season, racking up 2,026 passing yards along with 15 touchdowns and just three interceptions in eight games. However, Maye’s most significant achievement is guiding New England to a 6-2 record.

Morris wasn’t the only Falcons coach to commend Maye; on Wednesday, defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich also expressed his respect for him.

“He’s way better than I wanted him to be,” Ulbrich said, via The Athletic’s Josh Kendall. “He feels a lot like Josh Allen. He’s a problem.”

Maye is just in the midst of his second NFL season, yet opposing coaches are treating him as if he were an experienced veteran.

The 23-year-old quarterback will need to deliver another outstanding performance this week, as the Falcons currently allow 149.1 passing yards per game.
