Tottenham and Aston Villa both keen on £34m AC Milan midfielder despite injury worries

0 3

Tottenham Hotspur are once again in the hunt for a new midfielder, and a familiar name is back on their radar despite Spurs having missed out on him last summer.

Tottenham Hotspur were in the mix for Ardon Jashari last summer, when they were looking to secure the signing of a holding midfielder.

The 23-year-old was on their shortlist alongside several other names, but competition for his signature was intense.

AC Milan were reported to have submitted several bids for the then Club Brugge man, while Arsenal and Manchester City were also keeping close tabs on him.

In the end, it was AC Milan who won the race, with their persistence finally paying off as Jashari put pen to paper on a five-year deal.

Tottenham and rivals show interest in Ardon Jashari

Jashari’s start to life at AC Milan, however, has not gone according to plan, and that has now sparked fresh transfer speculation surrounding his future.

According to MilanLive, after a slow start to life in Italy, Tottenham are now believed to be considering reigniting their interest in the midfielder.

Spurs are not alone in monitoring the 23-year-old, with Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa also showing an interest in his situation.

Still, AC Milan are said to retain strong faith in the Swiss international, but the growing interest from England has ensured his name remains part of the transfer conversation.

AC Milan’s stance and Tottenham’s chances

It is believed that, as things stand, AC Milan is not considering any exit for the 23-year-old. The club are aware of interest from the Premier League, but Jashari is seen internally as the long-term future of their midfield.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side pursued the midfielder for months before eventually landing him, with Club Brugge proving a tough nut to crack during negotiations.

That determination to sign him makes it difficult to imagine Milan allowing Tottenham, Nottingham Forest or Aston Villa to prise him away so soon.

Jashari has not been bad in terms of his performances, but it is injuries that have slowed his progress, with the holding midfielder having just featured for 40 minutes all season since moving to Italy.

But once he returns to full fitness, talk of an early exit is expected to fade. However, if he begins to thrive and deliver consistently, transfer speculation could resurface for an entirely different reason.
