Browns Coach Believes Patriots’ Drake Maye Is A ‘Morph’ Of Two QBs
Cleveland Browns safeties coach Ephraim Banda has high praise for New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.
The Patriots are set to host the Browns in Week 8 on Sunday, and Cleveland has been preparing to face Maye. As Banda has been studying Maye, he called the Patriots quarterback a morph of two quarterbacks.
“It’s like a combination of Ben Roethlisberger and Josh Allen,” Banda said about Maye on Friday. “It’s like this morph, and now you get this superfreak.”
It’s high praise from Banda, who believes Maye is a freak and a star quarterback in his second year in the NFL.
Although Cleveland has high praise for Maye and the Patriots’ offense, the Browns’ defense is well-prepared to play them.
“He’s a great quarterback,” Ward said, via Browns.com. “He has been playing very well for those guys and that’s showing. So regardless of whether they’re short or deep, he’s making the passes, those guys are catching it, and we just have to make it tough on those guys.”
Maye, meanwhile, knows the Browns defense will pose a lot of challenges, but is eager for the test.
“They’re really good, they’re really good,” Maye said to reporters on Wednesday. “Shoot, they’ve got one of the best players in football. They have some young guys who are really good. They play some man, they play tight coverage. They’re probably one of the best cornerback duos we’ll see. So, it’s going to be good getting back at home, but we know we’ve got a tough challenge.”
New England is a seven-point favorite to defeat the Browns on Sunday.
