Tottenham fans won’t like what Thomas Frank just said about Bentancur and Palhinha duo
Tottenham Hotspur may be struggling to find rhythm in front of goal, but Thomas Frank appears more than satisfied with what he is seeing from his midfield duo of Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha.
Tottenham Hotspur certainly have a lot to work on under Thomas Frank, as recent results have not been entirely the best in recent weeks.
Frank started as Spurs boss in solid fashion, winning four of his first five games as Tottenham manager, keeping four clean sheets and scoring nine goals in the process.
However, the last five fixtures have not been convincing, with Tottenham winning just once in that run, while their only clean sheet came in a scrappy draw against AS Monaco.
Thomas Frank speaks on Tottenham’s attack and injuries
Scoring goals is what many fans are concerned with, and in recent weeks, Tottenham’s attacking play has left much to be desired.
Thomas Frank has now opened up on his side’s struggles in the final third, addressing the absence of key attackers and how the team is working to rediscover its attacking flow.
Speaking about his injured forwards, Frank explained that every manager wants their best players fit, but it is part of the game to deal with setbacks.
In his words, as quoted by the club’s official website: “Every head coach or manager wants their best players fit. When that happens, we complain the squad is too big. Injuries are injuries, it is what it is.
“It would be lovely to be able to use Solanke, Kulusevski, Maddison, but we have some very talented attacking players available. We are working hard getting the flow with the front four. There have definitely been some good games and good spells but we will keep working.”
Frank is happy with Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha pairing
The midfield area, particularly the pivot, has been another position fans have expressed concern over, with many suggesting that a Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur partnership has contributed to the team’s recent struggles.
Thomas Frank, however, does not share that view. The Dane insisted that he is pleased with his midfield setup and believes both players contribute well to the team’s structure.
When speaking about his midfield build-up, Frank noted that it is a collective effort and that both players are doing their part. He said:
“It’s a collective effort in terms of build up and creating chances. They are more than capable to help the team. If we are not so free flowing though, it is about making sure we are solid.”
The Tottenham boss also made it clear that he is analysing every detail to improve results and performances, while reiterating his satisfaction with Bentancur and Palhinha.
“I’m looking into every aspect to do everything I can to maximise the performance. What is the best way to get results and make sure we play as good as possible. I’m happy with Joao and Rodri, that’s what I’m looking at. People can look at whatever they want.”
