Lookman back in Atalanta XI for first time since summer transfer drama with Inter
Ademola Lookman has been named in Ivan Juric’s Atalanta starting lineup for this evening’s game against Lazio, his first start of the season and since the drama surrounding his future in the summer transfer window.
La Dea welcome the Biancocelesti to Bergamo and Lookman leads the line for the hosts as Juric’s side look for a vital three points against an inconsistent Lazio.
Lookman summer drama ended with a whimper
The Nigerian forward wanted to leave the club in the summer and attempted to force a move away, with Inter leading the race for his signature.
It was a strategy that worked for some other big names, such as Alexander Isak, this summer but Lookman was not so fortunate and the Nerazzurri refused to meet La Dea’s €50 million price tag for the forward.
Instead he went back to Atalanta with his tail between his legs but has worked hard alongside new head coach Juric to reintegrate back into the squad.
The forward has been given a second chance and can only hope to prove himself on the pitch, if he wishes to turn heads for a future move, as well as to help his club in the short term.
