Insider Expects Patriots To Be ‘Interested’ In Trading For Star Receiver
The New England Patriots could look to bolster their offense ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
New England is off to a hot start as the Patriots are 4-2 and atop the AFC East. But one area the Patriots could improve on is at receiver, and giving Drake Maye another weapon alongside Stefon Diggs.
Ahead of the deadline, NFL insider Albert Greer named New Orleans Saints star receiver Chris Olave as a potential trade candidate.
“There is one name on there I think you probably want to keep an eye on,” Breer said on “Patriots Pregame Live.” “This is, injury permitting. It’s Chris Olave.
“That’s one where you could look at and say, ‘That’s a potential building block.’ You have to be comfortable with the concussion thing. And that is definitely a piece of the picture with Olave. But that is one name where I could see potentially, if the Saints were willing to part with them, and if the Saints have made the decision we’re not extending him after the year and made him available, I could see the Patriots being interested in him.”
Beer believes Mike Vrabel’s past with Ohio State could also help facilitate the trade, as the New England Patriots coach is familiar with the star receiver and could talk to former Buckeyes coaches about him.
The Saints picked Olave 11th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. New Orleans did pick up his fifth-year option for 2026, so New England could have the receiver for a season and a half.
Olave has recorded 39 receptions for 342 yards and a touchdown this season with the Saints.
