Queen's Park v Partick Thistle - Match Preview

THE closest rivalry in the William Hill Championship meets at The city Stadium on Tuesday night for a re-arranged fixture to round off September.

The game between the two Glasgow sides in the second tier was scheduled for September 6 but postponed for international call-ups.

The big date in the city football calendar is here though, just a week before Scotland arrive at The city Stadium for the next national camp.

The surface is looking pristine for the near neighbours after St Johnstone’s visit on Saturday and the eyes of Scotland could be trained on the southside for the only game in the country, especially as the game is being live streamed by the team at QPTV.

The Season so far...

Partick Thistle have enjoyed a bright start to the season – a positive Premier Sports Cup run in the group stage and four straight wins in the league., albeit that campaign began with a 5-1 reverse to league leaders St Johnstone.

The Perth side were the last visitors top The city Stadium and edged away with three points thanks to a late goal from Josh McPake.

The performance, if not the result, has given cause for optimism on the southside of the city – but the feeling in Maryhill is maybe even more positive.

Mark Wilson’s side sit third and have two games in hand over Raith Rovers – one point better off in second.

Sean Crighton’s side won their first league match since March ten days ago, and boast the hottest striker in the league in the Spiders ranks.

It’s a list of ingredients for derby drama and the ground is sold out for the occasion.
