Five talking points as Man United edge Chelsea at Old Trafford

0 23

Manchester United returned to winning ways in the Premier League, beating Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

Read on as we look at five talking points from the game.

Fernandes and Casemiro remain United’s best midfield pair

Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes showed why they are manager Ruben Amorim’s preferred midfield pair, scoring United’s two goals.

Casemiro got sent off, but he has
shown particularly since the start of the year that he should be starting ahead of Manuel Ugarte.

Amad Diallo struggles continue

The Ivorian struggled to make an impact against Enzo Maresca’s side and earned 5/10 in our player ratings.

Playing as a left-sided number 10 in the last two games has also not done him any favour in recapturing his best form. Amorim may have to drop him if he keeps playing poorly.

Lonely Benjamin Sesko

The Slovenian forward has had a slow start to the season, and his struggles continued against Chelsea.

Sesko’s runs were often ignored by his team-mates, and he was rarely involved in the build-up, touching the ball just eight times.

United need him to start delivering to sustain their winning momentum.

Man United concede another set-piece goal

Man United were mostly defensively solid, owing largely to Chelsea’s playing with 10 men for most of the game.

However, they conceded yet again from a set-piece, making it the third time they have done so in the league this term – previously doing so against Arsenal and Burnley.

Solid Noussair Mazraoui

The Morocco international kept his place in the right wing-back position, with Diogo Dalot still out due to injury, and made a good case to keep playing there.

He was solid defensively, winning all his ground duels, and his precise cross led to Man United’s second goal.
