Three Teammates Reached This Milestone Against Red Sox

A September spoiler demonstrated its power at the Boston Red Sox’s expense this month.

Brent Rooker steered the Athletics to a 5-3 win over Boston on Thursday with his 30th home run. The slugger has hit that benchmark in three straight seasons.

The Red Sox may have felt deja vu watching that feat, as two of Rooker’s teammates reached that milestone against them last week. Shea Langeliers and Nick Kurtz each hit home run No. 30 in a 5-4 win over Boston on Sept. 10.

No other trio has notched 30 home runs for the same team in 2025. Seattle Mariners stars Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez and Eugenio Suárez each have at least 30 this season, but Suárez registered 36 of his 46 long balls for the Arizona Diamondbacks before a deadline deal.

Cody Bellinger and Jazz Chisholm Jr. are also each one home run away from reaching that milestone alongside New York Yankees teammates Aaron Judge and Trent Grisham.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox won’t have a single 30-home run hitter unless Trevor Story tallies five more in the final nine games. The injured Wilyer Abreu remains second on the team with 22 long balls ahead of Alex Bregman (17).

Only the Yankees, Mariners, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets have more home runs than the Athletics (212) this season. They’re third in slugging behind last year’s World Series participants.

Despite those milestone dingers, the Red Sox held the unheralded offense in check. The A’s scored 16 combined runs in six games, getting shut out twice to start last week’s series at Sacramento. Yet they split this month’s six games after the A’s took two of three at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox will look to block Brandon Lowe from hitting his 30th home run when playing three pivotal games against the Tampa Bay Rays.
