ESU Football enters conference play fresh off a bye week

0 22

EMPORIA (KSNT) - The Emporia State football team is heading into conference play fresh off a bye week to face the University of Nebraska-Kearney Lopers on Saturday.

After a tough 40-21 loss to Angelo State, the Hornets are hoping to bounce back. They gave up four turnovers, and quarterback Ben Harris was 23 for 52 for 357 yards and two touchdowns.

"It's the most important gave we've played up to this point," Head Coach Garin Higgins said. "Number one it's the next game, I know you hear that all the time, but the second thing is now our non-conference games are gone."

The Hornets are going to be playing in Kearney, where the Lopers are coming off a similar 26-7 loss to Fort Hayes State University.

"It's 1-0 that's how we have to take every week, and then we will look up and see where we are at so far," Harris said. "I believe we go in 1-0 every day and what's important now is our motto, you know  wins. What's important now is getting a win on Saturday."

Kickoff it set for Saturday at noon.
