Paul Pierce Sings Jaylen Brown’s Praises For His Exceptional Leadership
Jaylen Brown is one of the most critical players on the Boston Celtics, and it’s not just because of his style of play, but also the leadership he brings to the team.
Paul Pierce told Heavy Sports’ Steve Bulpett that Brown’s voice is the most important in the locker room, even more so than Jayson Tatum’s.
“I’ve always looked at Jaylen as an important voice there,” Pierce said Monday. “When they’re in practice and in the locker room, from what I’m seeing, Jaylen just, personality-wise, is a more vocal person than Jayson.
“Your best player doesn’t always have to be your leader. Our championship team (2008) was crazy because we had a thousand voices, James Posey, Eddie House and we had about 10 leaders on that team. It wouldn’t always have to come from me or Kevin Garnett, you know what I’m saying?”
Pierce stating that Brown is the most vocal player in the locker room is a positive sign for the Celtics this season.
Brown will take on various roles on the court this year due to Tatum being out with a torn Achilles and the offseason trades of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.
Brown will have the on-floor leadership skills necessary for the new roles while continuing to be the motivating voice in the locker room for the rest of the team.
