CLUB STATEMENT: NIGEL LITTLE

0 20

It is with a great deal of sadness that we learned that Nigel Little, at the age of 75 had lost his long-fought battle with cancer.

In the early to mid-1970s, Nigel was recognised as one of the Club’s outstanding talents playing
on the left-hand side of midfield with his mercurial skills and pace, he took defences apart with commensurate ease and helped the club win the Herts Division 1 Championship 1972-73. In the following season, he continued to excel and was selected to play for the County Representative team but unfortunately for Nigel, he was badly injured in the game against Redbourn and was unable to play. To add insult to injury, he also lost his contact lenses during the same game and confessed later that his biggest regret was that he couldn’t see the opponent who tackled him, otherwise he may well have sought retribution!!

Royston Town FC 1975-76. Nigel Little is seated on the far left of the front row.

In his professional accountancy role, he provided the Club with a great deal of advice during which were some very challenging times and was honoured with the Clubman of the Year Award.
On a personal level, he was our family’s financial adviser and for over 30 years our company accountant during which time we developed a great personal relationship.

He was never really a fan of using accountancy technology, always preferring to produce
handwritten accounts which were works of art in their own right!

He was a lovely man with a cheeky smile, and on behalf of Royston Town FC, our sincere condolences go  to Viv and all his family and friends.

RIP Nigel
