Man United academy star poised for surprise deadline day transfer to Turkey after Onana

0 3

Manchester United could be set to greenlight another late transfer to Turkey, with the deadline slamming shut later today.

According to journalist Resat Can Ozbudak, Super Lig side Kayserispor have opened talks to sign exciting United youngster Sam Mather.

The clock is ticking fast, with just a few hours left to finalise the deal before the window closes.

Mather regular in United’s youth sides, dazzling for both the Under-18s and Under-21s.

The forward has featured over 60 times, netting 29 goals and providing 22 assists.

While interest had previously arrived from Germany and Sweden, Turkey now look set to be the stage for his next chapter.

The 20-year-old has clearly outgrown academy football and now needs to take the next step in his career.

A permanent move could give him the platform to reset and properly launch his senior career.

The youngster has already experienced senior football with loan spells at Rochdale and Tranmere Rovers.

However, restricted to just 12 appearances across both stints, his development stalled rather than accelerated.

United goalkeeper Andre Onana completed a season-long loan move to Trabzonspor yesterday.

The Cameroonian shot-stopper will reportedly earn a far bigger pay package thanks to lucrative signing-on bonuses and add-ons.

A more favourable tax rate in Turkey will further increase his salary.

Tyrell Malacia was also in talks over a loan move to Eyupspor, but that deal is now on the verge of collapse.

The final member of the infamous ‘bomb squad’ is in the final year of his deal and could walk away for free next July.
