Murray On 'Unbelievable' Support & Inter Battle
Joelle Murray urges Hibees to back the girls next week at Easter Road against Inter Milan following Wednesday's first leg clash in Italy.
Hibs Women would go down 4-1 on the night as the clinical hosts found the net with their four best chances, though Eilidh Adams' smart finish gives the team a chance at home.
Despite the defeat, Murray still has great belief in the squad and believes their determination and hard work deserved greater reward in Milan.
"It was not the result we obviously wanted to come away from tonight, but I think the girls can take great heart and credit from the performance," Murray told Hibs TV. "They left everything out on the pitch and that's the minimum.
"They can be proud. Disappointed, but proud in the performance that they put on tonight. They never let their heads go down, not once within the 90 minutes. I
"They played with heart, they played with spirit and not once did they get their heads down. They played until the final whistle and you could see that in our performances.
"We grew into the game, we grew into the first half, worked a lot out of possession. We suffered a lot out of possession, but they didn't let them get that down. They worked on triggers, they got the ball back and they played forward when we could."
"It's been a difficult schedule, but we can't complain," the joint head coach added. "We worked hard to get into this position, so we definitely won't complain. We enjoy playing in games like this, we enjoy challenging ourselves, so we now look to Sunday, Montrose at home. We need to rest, recover and really get ourselves up for that one."
There was a terrific away support once again backing the Hibees in Europe, with our backing possily outnumbering the home support in attendance.
The Hibees will return to Leith for the second leg after taking on Montrose this weekend, hosting Inter at Easter Road Stadium - with tickets just £5 while U13s go free!
"Unbelievable," Murray remarked on the Hibs faithful. "I think looking from the dugout over to the main stand, I think we've maybe outnumbered the home fans.
"The fans have been tremendous, they were tremendous in Cyprus, they've been unbelievable out here tonight and they'll be a massive help next week at Easter Road.
"So, if you've not got your ticket, I would encourage you to get your ticket because the girls deserve a big crowd under the lights on European nights."
