3/3 long balls, 4/5 crosses: 52-touch star was United's standout player vs Burnley, better than Bruno
Manchester United picked up their first victory of the Premier League campaign against Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils were favourites to beat the Clarets at Old Trafford, but they had to work hard for the win after defensive lapses.
United took the lead through an own goal in the opening half, but Burnley managed to fight back with Lyle Foster scoring in the 55th minute.
Just 13 seconds later, Bryan Mbeumo scored for the Red Devils after a lovely cutback from Diogo Dalot.
Jaidon Anthony made it 2-2 in the 66th minute, but United managed to scrape through with a victory after a late penalty earned by Amad.
Bruno Fernandes calmly slotted the spot kick to register the club’s first win of the season.
Fernandes got the plaudits for converting the penalty, having missed one at Fulham last weekend.
However, Mbeumo was undoubtedly the standout performer in our opinion, having been exceptional with his attacking play over 90 minutes.
The Cameroonian star provided plenty of width on the right flank.
Aside from scoring, he provided a peach of a cross for Amad, who should have found the back of the net.
Mbeumo completed 100 percent of his long balls (3/3) and four out of five crosses attempted.
The 26-year-old, who had 52 touches and 26 passes yesterday, received a 9/10 rating from our side.
Mbeumo was signed for £65 million from Brentford earlier this summer, and he has made an instant impact with two goals from four appearances in all competitions.
The attacker scored a vital goal against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round, but unfortunately squandered his second spot kick in the penalty shoot-out.
He provided the perfect response with a splendid attacking showing. Mbeumo will have a key role to play this campaign as the Red Devils push for European qualification.
