Man United loanees report: Rashford ‘decent’ as youngsters net first senior goals
Several Manchester United loanees were in action over the weekend. Read on as we look at their performances.
Marcus Rashford
The English forward was handed his first start in Barcelona’s enthralling 3-2 win at Levante. Former Barcelona forward Luis Garcia described his performance as ‘decent’. Dani Olmo replaced him at the start of the second half.
Radek Vitek
The Czech goalkeeper kept his place in Bristol City’s line-up as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Derby County.
Vitek came close to back-to-back clean sheets after a brilliant save, but Carlton Morris scored thereafter.
Elyh Harrison
The promising goalkeeper made five saves for League Two side Shrewsbury Town but could not prevent them from losing 2-1 at Swindon Town. He has now conceded eight goals in three league games.
Ethan Wheatley
He scored his first senior goal in the colours of Northampton Town, who beat Exeter City 2-0 in the League One on Saturday, with manager Kevin Nolan describing his goal as a ‘great finish’. He came close to adding to his tally but was denied by goalkeeper Joe Whitworth.
Habeeb Ogunneye
The right back scored Newport County’s only goal as they lost 2-1 at MK Dons, extending their winless streak to three in League Two.
Ogunneye displayed a forward’s instinct to score, receiving a pass from Ben Lloyd before powering the ball home with a one-time finish.
Sonny Aljofree
The 20-year-old centre-back scored his first goal for League Two side Notts County in their 4-1 win over Shrewsbury last Wednesday. He also played 90 minutes as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Bromley on Saturday.
Dan Gore
The young midfielder started Rotherham United’s 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic. He came close to scoring in the first half but had his effort saved by goalkeeper Sam Tickle.
