Ledley King sets Tottenham and Thomas Frank a big target for the 2025/26 season

0 4

Ledley King believes Tottenham must aim higher this season, challenging the squad to push beyond last term’s struggles and set their sights on the biggest prizes.

The wait is finally over as the new Premier League season is set to kick off for all other clubs this weekend after Liverpool hosted Bournemouth last night.

Tottenham, on the other hand, will see their season begin this afternoon with a home clash against newly promoted Burnley.

The task for Tottenham this season will be to improve significantly on last term’s domestic form, where they finished 17th in the league after losing 22 games in the English top flight.

Ledley King sets Tottenham season target ahead of 25/26 campaign

With Spurs‘ 25/26 Premier League season only a few days away from kicking off, former Tottenham captain Ledley King has called on the team to set their ambitions high for the new campaign, stressing the importance of surpassing last season’s poor showing.

Speaking to BetMGM, King made clear that Tottenham’s first objective should be to better their league performance, while also pushing for more silverware.

“The main aim for any club at the start of the season is to improve what they did the previous campaign,” King said. “Last season was disappointing in terms of where Spurs finished in the Premier League and they will want to improve plenty on that, particularly at home, this time around, which I am sure they will.

“More silverware should be the target. You need a bit of luck with injuries – something Spurs have struggled with in recent seasons – and hopefully the new signings bed in quickly, but I have no doubt that this group of players can move the club forward in a positive way.”

King is already impressed by Spurs summer signings

King also shared his thoughts on some of Tottenham’s new arrivals, highlighting the qualities they bring to the squad. He spoke highly of Mohammed Kudus, noting how impressed he was with the forward during his time at West Ham.

“Mohammed Kudus looks a great signing – from what I have seen Spurs have signed a very exciting player. I was really impressed with him at West Ham – when Spurs beat them 4-1 at home, he was their best player by quite some margin before he got sent off. He is one of those players who looks like he can cause problems whenever he gets the ball.

“Hopefully, with a bit of support around him, he can take his game to the next level and help Spurs progress.

“I think Joao Palhinha will prove great business too. Having that anchor in midfield is something all good teams have and the ones I played in were no different.

“That role is key these days and I think it is probably something Spurs have not quite had over the past couple of seasons. I can see him fitting in perfectly.”
