Como boss Fabregas confirms Azon heading to Ipswich on loan
Como head coach Cesc Fabregas has confirmed that Spanish forward Ivan Azon is set to join EFL Championship side Ipswich Town on loan for the 2025-26 season.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday ahead of the club’s Coppa Italia first round match against Sudtirol on Saturday afternoon, Fabregas confessed “I wanted to keep Ivan Azon but this morning he went on a trip to Ipswich.”
Azon is reportedly set to join Ipswich in a loan deal worth €2 million whilst Marca, via the East Anglian Daily Times, report that the loan will contain an obligation-to-buy worth between €10-12 million if the Tractor Boys are promoted back to the Premier League this season.
Ivan Azon: A background
Azon signed for Como in February for just €2 million from Spanish club Real Zaragoza. After coming up through the youth system with Zaragoza, Azon made three appearances for the Spanish U21 national team but did not star for Como last season.
The Spaniard arrived at the lake with a calf injury which meant he missed eight of the 14 Serie A games he was eligible for. He sat on the bench for the other six games and did not play a single minute. His last professional match came in January for Zaragoza, where he played 90 minutes in a 2-1 win over Malaga.
