“I am very, very confident…” – Manager speaks out on Man United transfer target’s future
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has spoken out on the situation surrounding the club’s star player and Manchester United transfer target Carlos Baleba.
The talented 21-year-old has impressed in Brighton’s midfield in recent times, and looks like he’ll surely be the latest in a long line of big sales made by the Seagulls.
Man United are pursuing Baleba, but it seems Hurzeler is currently confident that the Cameroon international will be staying where he is for the time being.
See below for the Brighton manager’s latest quotes on the ongoing saga, as posted on X by reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano…

“I am very, very confident Baleba will stay with us,” Hurzeler said, as quoted in Romano’s post.
Can Manchester United sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton?
It will be interesting to see how this saga develops, but the current indication is that United will keep on trying for the exciting young defensive midfielder.
Romano himself has posted about this story quite a lot, which is not the sort of thing we expect from him unless the story has real legs to it…
? Man United keep working on Carlos Baleba deal. Sales (Garnacho, Antony, Sancho) could be key for higher bid.
Initial approach to discuss with Brighton ready, deal difficult; #BHAFC want to keep + eventually sell in 2026.
Carlos, keen on the move.

It looks like player sales will be key for MUFC, but Baleba is firmly in their sights and it’s surely going to be one to watch, whatever Hurzeler says in public.
Brighton tend to sell their stars eventually
Brighton won’t want to be pushed around, but we know their model tends to involve eventually cashing in on their best players, usually for big money.
Moises Caicedo was their best sale as he went to Chelsea for £115m, according to BBC Sport‘s report at the time.
Baleba is a similar talent, so one imagines United could soon have competition for him if they can’t get a deal done quickly.
Brighton fans will surely be hoping they can at the very least get one more season from Baleba before he gets that inevitable big move.
