PL club eye up transfer for £43.5m Man Utd star, not Garnacho

0 2

Fulham have earmarked Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund as a potential replacement for Rodrigo Muniz, according to Daily Mail.

The Denmark international has been touted to pursue a new challenge this summer, having fallen down the pecking order during pre-season.

Hojlund was an unused substitute against Fiorentina, and he could be on his way out with United having signed Benjamin Sesko to lead the line.

It is now reported that the Cottagers have a ‘tentative interest’ in signing Hojlund, with Atalanta pushing to secure the services of Rodrigo Muniz.

However, the west London outfit are expected to seek assurances from the player that he is open to joining them before the transfer deadline.

AC Milan have so far proposed a package worth £43.5 million for the Dane. They are ready to pay £4.5m for a loan deal with a £39m option to buy.

Hojlund has yet to be convinced to leave the Red Devils despite reports in Italy suggesting that the player has given the green light to join the Rossoneri.

Hojlund likely to leave Man Utd this summer

The 22-year-old had a difficult 2024/25 campaign with the Red Devils, scoring just four goals from 31 league games. He struggled with his positioning and also squandered some clear-cut scoring opportunities.

Manager Ruben Amorim backed him at different stages of the campaign, but the Portuguese tactician has now opted for a new solution. Sesko comes with a big reputation from Leipzig and should be an assured starter.

With no European football next term, Sesko should be a guaranteed starter in the Premier League games and could also feature in the Cup competitions. Hence, Hojlund would be a regular late substitute if he were to stay put.

This could urge Hojlund to move on before the transfer deadline on September 1. It has been claimed that the Dane prefers a permanent switch away from Old Trafford, and Milan may have to include an obligation to buy.

Fulham are more than capable of spending big on his services. They are about to secure a premium fee from Muniz’s exit and seem willing to land Hojlund. However, we are doubtful whether Hojlund would move to west London alongside Alejandro Garnacho.

Garnacho has made up his mind to join league rivals Chelsea, and negotiations are ongoing behind the scenes over the transfer package. While the Blues are competing for trophies with Champions League football, Fulham could finish in mid-table at best.

It would be a surprise if Hojlund moves to Marco Silva’s side on a permanent deal.
