Sling TV is the latest live streaming service to dip its toes into flexible passes, and the streamer has done so just in time for the start of football season.
On August 12, 2025, a little over a decade since it first launched, Sling TV announced that customers could now get the streaming service in day, weekend, or weeklong passes. Sling's traditional month-to-month subscriptions, which start at $45.99 a month, are still available, and new customers now also have the option to prepay for a five-month-long pass, a discounted option meant for those hoping to stream a full sports season.
Sling TV's Day Pass (24 hours) costs $4.99, the Weekend Pass (Friday through Sunday) costs $9.99, and the Week Pass (seven days) costs $14.99. Fans can also tack on the extra channels found in Sling's many add-ons (including the Sports Extra) to these flex passes. The extras each cost an additional $1 when added to the Day Pass, $2 for the Weekend Pass, and $3 for the Week Pass. The Sling Orange and Blue five-month season-long passes cost $199 each, but subscribing to the season pass for the Sling Orange + Blue combo plan (normally $60.99 a month) costs $274.
The new day, weekend, and week passes unlock popular Sling TV channels in the Orange plan, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, and ESPN4K. Orange offers 34 total live channels, including TNT and TBS, making it a solid sports streaming service for fans across a variety of leagues. Sling ranks among the best live TV streaming services we've tested, known for its essentials, flexibility, and affordable starting prices.
Live TV streaming services, which offer live channel packages meant to rival cable without any of the long-term contracts, have increasingly begun to venture into cheaper, more flexible packages. DirecTV launched a slew of genre packs earlier this year that offer specific selections of channels at a cheaper rate than the service's signature packages, including a sports-centric option. Sports streaming giant Fubo is also planning to launch a smaller sports-only package soon.
