Amorim has seven Man Utd undroppables v Arsenal and four available positions

Manchester United take on Arsenal in their Premier League curtain-raiser at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Ahead of the game, manager Ruben Amorim has probably made up his mind on the starting XI.

In our opinion, the Portuguese tactician has seven undroppables, beginning with captain Bruno Fernandes (central midfield).

Alongside him, Amad Diallo (right wing-back) and Leny Yoro (right centre-back) should be guaranteed starters, having started every game in pre-season.

The same should be the case with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo (number 10s), who have been signed to bolster the attack.

Aside from the quintet, Patrick Dorgu should get the nod at left wing-back, having impressed throughout pre-season.

Amorim prefers to have an experienced head in the back three, which should assure a starting berth for Harry Maguire.

This leaves four positions to fill (a goalkeeper, left centre-back, defensive midfielder and a striker).

Andre Onana has just returned to full training after a hamstring injury which sidelined him for the whole of pre-season.

Amorim has a late decision to make on whether to pick him or go with Altay Bayindir between the sticks against Arsenal.

Bayindir made six stellar saves in the FA Cup third round win versus Arsenal. He won’t be a bad choice to start on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Amorim has to choose between Ayden Heaven and Luke Shaw for the left centre-back role.

The manager obviously prefers a left-footed option in the role. We would personally go with Heaven if he is deemed fit.

There is also a decision to make on who starts between Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro in the number six position this weekend.

Both have been unconvincing in recent friendlies, but Ugarte will likely make the XI due to his better work rate and mobility.

Amorim still has to decide on who leads the line. Rasmus Hojlund is unlikely to do so amid speculation that he could be sold.

Mason Mount played as the false nine versus Fiorentina. The Englishman could take up a similar role against the Gunners.

Benjamin Sesko has just arrived from RB Leipzig. He could be introduced after the break to cause chaos with his unpredictability.
