Red Sox Listed Among ‘Best Fits’ For These Trade Candidates

The Boston Red Sox are going to contend for many of the top players available at the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline on July 31.

ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan think so, anyway.

McDaniel and Passan updated their list of trade candidates on Monday, and included the organization among the “best fits” portion of numerous entries, including starting pitchers Sandy Alcántara (No. 4), Kris Bubic (No. 8), Mitch Keller (No. 11), Merrill Kelly (No. 13), Taj Bradley (No. 17) and Edward Cabrera (No. 18), as well as first basemen Josh Naylor (No. 14) and Ryan O’Hearn (No. 15).

It’s obviously tough to see all of those players getting traded, let alone to one team, but a few of those names are widely expected to be on the move.

Kelly and Naylor’s odds of being traded were placed at 70%, as their current contract situations make them obvious candidates for the middling Arizona Diamondbacks — who could blow things up entirely. O’Hearn’s odds are sitting at 85%, so you can expect him to be available, there’s just a question as to what the price would be to swing something in the division.

How do you feel about that list of names, Red Sox fans? Are you interested in any of them? Let us know in the comments.
