Under-19s Lose Out To Shamrock Rovers

Hibs Under-19s were defeated by Shamrock Rovers in a friendly match at HTC on Wednesday (16 July) afternoon.

The wee Hibees were not short of chances, with goals from Eric Koufie and Charles Akinrintoyo securing the win for the clinical visitors.

The exhibition match allowed Hibs to work on various new tactical shapes, experiment with player positions and roles, and get more minutes in ahead of Sunday’s Development Squad friendly versus Whitehill Welfare.

There were positives from the encounter as Reiss Downie, Josh MacDonald and Luke Davidson each threatened, while Zach Bruce hit the post and Logan Jimenez sliced one just over the bar, all inside the first 45.

But it was the efficient Irish outfit who led by three going into the break. The second 45 saw a noticeable improvement from the team, as Hibs came close consistently but remained unable to get themselves on the scoresheet.
