Preview: Hibs Take On AFC Bournemouth
The Hibees take on English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday afternoon, kick-off at 12 noon, in a behind-closed-doors friendly match!
THE LOWDOWN
David Gray’s side have spent the last few days on the South Coast of England after being invited down to Bournemouth for a short training camp as we prepare for the beginning of the 2025/26 campaign.
The Hibees have trained at both the Vitality Stadium and the Bournemouth Training Centre over the past few days, with the mini-training camp finishing with a behind-closed-doors friendly match on Tuesday 15 July.
In the lead up to this match, the Hibees have endured a robust pre-season schedule taking on MSV Duisburg (0-0) and Ajax (3-6) in the Netherlands, before celebrating our 150th Anniversary with a historic friendly against Rot-Weiss Essen, with the Hibees running out 3-2 winners on the night.
Following our match with Bournemouth, we host Bolton Wanderers at Easter Road in Darren McGregor’s Testimonial friendly match to conclude our pre-season preparations!
TEAM NEWS
Gray will likely use the match as an opportunity to rotate his side and get more minutes into the legs of his players as we gear up for the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
Latest summer signing, Thibault Klidjé, is awaiting international clearance and work permit approval so will not feature.
THE HOSTS
This is the first pre-season of seven pre-season matches for AFC Bournemouth.
The Cherries host Hibs and then Bristol City both behind-closed-doors before travelling to America to play in the Premier League Summer Series later this month.
Andoni Iraola’s side finished ninth in the English Premier League last season – equaling their highest ever top-flight finish and picking up a club-record points total of 56 points.
This is the second time we have played The Cherries in the last two years. The sides last met during pre-season in July 2023, with Bournemouth running out 4-0 winners in Marbella.
HOW TO FOLLOW
The match kicks off at 12 noon and is being played behind closed doors.
The match is not being streamed or broadcast, but we will have a full match report available on hibernianfc.co.uk after the game.
