Man United face serious competition from Saudi giants for former Everton flop as Tuesday deadline revealed
Manchester United have until Tuesday to activate Moise Kean’s €52 million (£45m) release clause.
According to Gazzetta, the Red Devils will now face serious competition from Al Hilal for the Fiorentina striker, whose future hangs in the balance.
Kean was in sparkling form for Fiorentina last season, bagging 25 goals and three assists in 44 games across all competitions.
He scored 19 league goals for Raffaele Palladino’s side as Fiorentina finished sixth in Serie A and qualified for the Europa Conference League.
The 25-year-old has had a topsy-turvy career but has recaptured his goalscoring form in Florence and is now considered one of the most dangerous forwards in the Italian top flight.
Kean is now at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war, with United and Al Hilal vying for his signature.
The former Juventus star will be keen to prove himself in England at the second time of asking. His first stint with Everton didn’t go as planned, as he returned just four goals in 39 games for the Toffees.
He’d welcome a chance to join United, but the Red Devils have yet to make a formal offer.
United have been circling for weeks, closely monitoring the striker’s situation, but they’ve had their hands full trying to agree a deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
But they’re running out of time to trigger his release clause, and now have to deal with the free-spending Saudi giants who are now in the mix.
Al Hilal have made first contact with Kean’s representatives and are reportedly ready to lure him to the Middle East with a mouth-watering four-year contract worth €20m (£17m) per year.
They haven’t officially tabled the offer, but it would blow every other proposal out of the water.
United wouldn’t be able to match that, but are hoping the allure of the Premier League will be enough to convince Kean to turn down Al Hilal’s staggering offer.
But it’s a tempting deal, especially with Simone Inzaghi pushing the club to finalise the move.
