Celtics Announce 2025 Preseason Schedule

With the Boston Celtics still in the midst of a chaotic offseason, a new era of Celtics basketball is about to begin.

The team released its 2025 preseason schedule on Wednesday morning, which features four games in October. The slate kicks off with a road game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 8, followed by another road game against the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 10.

Boston returns home for its final two preseason games, which will be against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 12 and the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 15. All four games will air on NBC Sports Boston.

The 2025-26 NBA regular season kicks off a week later on Oct. 21, but the full schedule hasn’t been released yet.

While the Celtics’ roster is still unsettled, the preseason will give their fans a chance to see many of the team’s new faces in action, including Anfernee Simons, Georges Niang and first-round draft pick Hugo González.

Accordingly, this year’s preseason will have a very different vibe and energy for Boston, especially without Jayson Tatum (Achilles), Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kornet, and likely Al Horford.

Last year’s preseason didn’t mean much for the Celtics, who returned almost the same team from their championship season and featured mostly veterans in defined roles. This year, however, Boston has a younger team with new players who will be competing for minutes.

The preseason will also be a chance for returning Celtics like Jaylen Brown and Derrick White to gel with their new teammates and build chemistry together before the season starts, making it even more critical. It will also give Joe Mazzulla opportunities to start experimenting with his lineups and see who plays well together.

Regardless of how the rest of the offseason plays out, it’s already shaping up to be an intriguing preseason for Boston.
