Man United ‘are the Premier League club to have shown the most interest’ in €52m star
Manchester United will explore the possibility of signing a striker after agreeing terms with Brentford for the transfer of forward Bryan Mbeumo.
England youth international Liam Delap was supposed to be one of their first signings this summer, alongside Matheus Cunha, but he elected to join Chelsea.
A move for Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres is almost off the table, as he is leaning towards joining Arsenal.
Napoli’s target man, Victor Osimhen, was also on their radar, but he has now agreed to join Turkish giants Galatasaray.
With their struggles to land their preferred target, the Red Devils could now turn to Fiorentina striker Moise Kean, whom they have been monitoring.
According to The Athletic, United ‘are the Premier League club to have shown the most interest’ in the Italy international.
The 25-year-old has several suitors, including from the Saudi Pro-League(SPL), after impressing for Fiorentina last season.
Keane was the second-highest scorer in Serie A last season, scoring 19 goals, outscoring notable strikers such as Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.
He has a €52 million release clause, which expires on July 15, meaning United must act fast to prevent paying more for him.
However, the Mancunian giants need to raise funds from sales to sign Kean, unless they opt out of Mbeumo’s deal.
They have struggled to sell players, having received no bid for Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, or Antony, all of whom are not in the club’s plans.
Kean struggled in his first stint in England, having joined Everton in 2019. He scored just two goals in 32 league games.
The former Juventus starlet would get another opportunity to impress in the English top-flight if he joins Man United.
He could follow in the footsteps of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, who initially struggled in the league but returned as an improved player after a successful spell in the Italian top-flight.
