Man United name asking price for flop, but player ‘likely to stay at Old Trafford'
Manchester United are open to offers for goalkeeper Andre Onana in this transfer window.
The Cameroon international has disappointed since his high-profile transfer from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023 for the sum of £47.2 million.
His unreliability has made the Red Devils consider selling him to sign a new quality goalkeeper.
According to the Daily Mail, United have placed a £30m valuation on the former Barcelona prospect, but he ‘looks increasingly likely to stay at Old Trafford this summer’.
French side Monaco enquired about Onana last month, but they are unlikely to meet his valuation.
They will reportedly continue to monitor his situation, making a transfer not completely ruled out.
Saudi Pro-League (SPL) Neom SC had been monitoring the Cameroonian before they recently signed Poland international Marcin Bulka from Nice.
Onana is keen to stay at the club and will now have the chance to redeem himself next season unless United reduce his asking price and find him a suitor.
Manager Ruben Amorim ‘enjoys a warm working relationship’ him, boosting his chances of staying at United beyond this summer.
United also does not consider strengthening the goalkeeping department a priority—they will only do so if Onana leaves.
With the 29-year-old now almost guaranteed to stay, United will likely not step up their pursuit of Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, valued at €45-50 million.
Likewise, this could affect the potential transfer of Brazilian goalkeeper John Victor from Botafogo unless Altay Bayindir secures a move elsewhere.
As it stands, United have yet to receive any offer for the Turkey international.
Onana was one of the players spotted at Carrington today as the pre-season schedule began.
He joined new signings Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, and several others at the training centre.
