Man United misfit dealt fresh blow in bid for dream transfer

0 1

Forward Marcus Rashford has an uncertain future at Manchester United and could leave the club this summer.

He is not in the plans of manager Ruben Amorim. United have also reportedly elected to give his number 10 jersey to new signing Matheus Cunha.

Rashford’s preference is to join Barcelona. Footmercato claim the Spanish champions would meet with United over the ‘coming days’ regarding his signature.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano now reports that Barcelona’s main target is Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

They intend to make a ‘new approach’ for the Colombian despite the potential difficulty of negotiating with the Reds.

Rashford could still secure his dream move to Barcelona

The Catalonia outfit would find it challenging to complete the transfer of Diaz.

Liverpool are reluctant to sell him, and the tragic death of Diogo Jota could force them to double down on their decision.

Barcelona could only sign the Columbia international if they can make an irresistible offer to the Reds and balance their books, which currently looks difficult.

According to Mundo Deportivo, they have yet to meet La Liga’s 1/1 financial fair play threshold required to freely register new players, making it unlikely that they will make a marquee signing.

Also, Diaz has reportedly agreed personal terms with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, potentially making them the favourites to sign the right-footed winger.

This could benefit Rashford as Barcelona may be forced to intensify their interest in him if they miss out on Diaz.

The England international would cost Hansi Flick’s side less money in transfer fees and salary.

United value Rashford at £40 million but may be forced to sell him for less late in the transfer window, allowing Barcelona to seal an agreement with them on their terms.

If the Spanish giants still insist on signing him on loan, the Red Devils may be forced to agree if they cannot get another suitor.

Agreeing personal terms may not be difficult as the versatile forward is ready to take a pay cut to move to the Spotify Camp Nou.
