27yo Man United ace knows 'he has to leave', not part of Amorim's plans
Manchester United are looking to offload their underperforming stars and start afresh under manager Ruben Amorim.
It was revealed recently that five United players have expressed their desire to leave Old Trafford and will not report for pre-season training next week, unlike their teammates.
Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are the five players.
Journalist Henry Winter has revealed on X: “My understanding is that Marcus Rashford has not asked to leave Manchester United. But he accepts he’s not part of Ruben Amorim’s plans and that he has to leave to get playing again and fulfil his ambition of going to the 2026 World Cup with England. A move abroad looks like the next step.”
Rashford gave an interview to Winter last December, in which he expressed his desire for a “new challenge”.
The 27-year-old was visibly upset after Amorim dropped him from the United squad that won against Manchester City.
He was omitted from 10 more matchday squads before he joined Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the campaign.
The Villans decided against choosing the option to sign him permanently after missing out on the UEFA Champions League spot.
Rashford has been linked with a move to Barcelona or Bayern Munich.
The England international favours a move to Spain, and his dream transfer received a boost after Nico Williams’ surprise snub.
Williams looked destined to join Barcelona, but he opted to sign a new long-term contract with Athletic Club.
The La Liga giants are looking to sign a new winger and could make a summer swoop for Rashford.
The United Academy graduate will have to take a pay cut from his staggering £325,000 per week salary as the Catalan giants will not be able to meet his current wages.
