Barcelona decide against move for Inter defender Dumfries
Despite rumours linking Inter defender Denzel Dumfries to Barcelona, the latest reports from Spain suggest that the Catalan club have decided against activating the Dutchman’s release clause.
Dumfries has a €25 million release clause active for foreign clubs until the middle of July but Marca, via TMW, are now reporting that Barca have no interest in triggering it.
Barcelona happy with current options amid Dumfries links
The reports indicate that Barcelona are more than happy with the performances of starting right-back Jules Kounde – who was a vital part of the club’s La Liga and Copa del Rey success.
Furthermore, Barca head coach Hansi Flick sees youngster Hector Fort as the future of the team’s right flank and versatile defender Eric Garcia can also fill in when needed.
The La Liga side are also still grappling with Financial Fair Play concerns and if the club were to sign Dumfries, there exists a scenario where they would be unable to register the player – a less than optimal situation for both the club and the player.
