How Viktor Arvidsson Reacted After Being Traded To Bruins
Viktor Arvidsson is looking forward to his opportunity with the Boston Bruins.
“I’m just really happy, excited,” Arvidsson told reporters during a video conference after he was traded to Boston on Tuesday, per the team. “Both me and my whole family are excited to be a part of the Bruins, coming to a great sports city. It’s going to be really fun.”
The Bruins acquired Arvidsson from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a fifth-round pick. Arvidsson, who has one year remaining on his two-year, $8 million contract, waived his no-trade clause to land with the Black and Gold.
The 32-year-old forward intends to help Boston’s offense, which struggled to consistently score goals last season. Arvidsson scored 20 or more goals five times during his career, most recently during the 2022-23 season. He admitted to having a down year during his first and only season in Edmonton, but expects to bounce back from that 27-point campaign.
Arvidsson views the Bruins as a group with talent and playoff potential.
“I think you look at the team there’s great goaltending, really good (defensive) core,” said Arvidsson, noting how injuries to Hampus Lindholm and Charlie McAvoy hurt the group last season. “I just think it’s going to be a fun year.”
Bruins general manager Don Sweeney added depth to the bottom six on Day 1 of NHL free agency, and Arvidsson is expected to play a key role in it.
