This Under-The-Radar Signee Long Been Intriguing To Celtics
The Celtics didn’t waste much time when it came to their reported deal with free-agent big man Luka Garza, doing so less than an hour after Luke Kornet reportedly joined the Spurs.
Boston apparently is familiar with Garza.
“The Celtics have long been fans of Garza,” The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski wrote on X minutes after the reported deal. “They made inquiries with Wolves before.”
Krawczynski covers the Minnesota Timberwolves, who employed Garza the last three seasons.
Garza played a limited role in Minnesota as he averaged just six minutes per game the last three seasons. The 26-year-old averaged 4.5 points and 1.6 rebounds in 92 games with the Wolves.
Boston reportedly signed Garza to a two-year, $5.5 million fully guaranteed deal.
