Caley Gibb: A Dream Come True To Return To Hibs
After “living the dream” with Hibs Women last season, Caley Gibb is “delighted” to return to the Club on a permanent deal.
The 21-year-old returns to the Hibees on a one-year deal following her loan stint at the tailend of last season, in which she appeared 10 times and played a key part in the Club securing their first SWPL title in almost two decades.
Gibb, who had previously made her senior debut with Hibs in 2019 aged just 15, makes the step up to professional full-time football following spells with Spartans and Partick Thistle in the topflight.
“It feels amazing,” she said on her first day at HTC. “It's been a dream of mine to be back here full-time, it’s something that I've always wanted to do.
“This club has achieved a lot, and is hopefully going to only keep going and getting better. I’m delighted.
“I think it's still not quite hit me. These past few months have been incredible.
“It’s something that I've dreamed of since I was a wee girl. I’m definitely still living the dream and I’m looking forward to representing the club again, and hopefully I can do the club proud.
“I'm still young,” Gibb added. “I've still got a lot to work on and develop on. But I know that at this club, that's where I'm going to be able to do that.”
When Gibb returned to the Club in February on loan, she was warmly welcomed in by the Hibees support and backed from the off.
This support stuck with the defender, who states the Hibs Women faithful were a key reason for her permanent return.
“I think the fans are absolutely excellent. What a group of fans to have.
“They've supported me along the way, during what was a tough period of time, coming into a squad that was trying to win a league, and it was always going to be tough [for me].
“But hearing them cheer me on at the side was always great. It was excellent. So I'm delighted to see them all again.”
