European Giant 'tentatively enquired' about £40m Man Utd star, player wants to leave
Manchester United are looking to rebuild their squad by selling stars who are surplus to requirements.
Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony are at the top of that list.
According to The Manchester Evening News, Inter Milan tentatively enquired about Rashford but would only consider a loan deal.
The 27-year-old share a strained working relationship with head coach Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese manager dropped him from 11 matchday squads in late 2024 before sanctioning his loan move to Aston Villa in January.
Though he showed flashes of his old self at Villa Park, the revival was not enough to convince the Midlands club to make the move permanent.
The England international wants to play for a club that competes in the UEFA Champions League.
United expect him to leave for a club abroad, and they are now bracing for the likelihood of a season-long loan.
A key stumbling block remains his eye-watering £325,000-a-week salary.
No club would be ready to keep him on the same salary and meet United’s £40m valuation.
Rashford had hoped to engineer a fairy-tale switch to Barcelona, but the Catalan giants are closing in on Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
With Lamine Yamal and Raphinha already lighting up the wings at Camp Nou, signing both Williams and Rashford seems almost impossible.
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly his long-time admirers but they have shifted their focus toward building a young, energetic squad driven by intensity.
That evolving philosophy now leaves little room for a player like Rashford.
United may not only have to settle with loaning Rashford out but could also be forced to cover a chunk of his sky-high wages just to get the deal done.
