‘From what I’m hearing’ - Journalist claims Man Utd should sign PL star within a week
Manchester United are close to completing a deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, with an announcement likely to be made within a week from now, according to talkSPORT journalist Anil Kandola.
The Red Devils have been linked with the Cameroon international for weeks, and it appears the deal is nearing completion following several talks.
Mbeumo wants to join Man United despite reports linking him with a possible reunion with new Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank, and agreeing terms with the 25-year-old and his club is unlikely to be a problem in the coming days.
It is unknown how much the Bees star will cost, with reports claiming the London club want over £60 million for his services, but the Old Trafford club reportedly have cash to spend despite missing out on European football and signing Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
It comes as a huge boost as Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim wants to strengthen his squad ahead of his first full season in charge, and signing Mbeumo would come in handy after he notched 20 Premier League goals and eight assists in 38 appearances in 2024-25.
With pre-season starting soon, Man United need to complete other deals as soon as possible, and bringing in the Cameroonian before the end of the month will greatly benefit him and the boss.
Mbeumo plays as a right winger and number 9, and his addition to an attack already boasting the likes of Cunha and Amad Diallo could go a long way next term and going forward.
Managing to hold on to Bruno Fernandes amid interest from Saudi Arabia is also huge for the Red Devils as replacing the creativity, quality and experience the Portuguese midfielder brings to the table might have been near impossible.
Man United will only be competing domestically next term, which could be a blessing in disguise and be a massive boost for them, and successfully bolstering their attack this summer could help them emerge as dark horses in the Premier League title race next term.
