Report: Red Sox’s Craig Breslow Doxxed After Rafael Devers-Giants Trade

Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow was doxxed following Sunday’s blockbuster trade which sent slugger Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants, TMZ reported Monday.

According to TMZ, someone published Breslow’s home address online. The report went on to explain the Newton Police Department is investigating after being “Notified by representatives from the Boston Red Sox Organization that some members of the Red Sox have been victims of doxing on social media due to a recent trade.”

TMZ reported that “While cops were tipped off, NPD added it is not investigating any online threats.”

Breslow has endured waves of backlash following the five-player deal which sent Devers, a three-time All-Star, to the Giants.

“I think where we got to was believing that making this move made more sense for us than not making it,” Breslow told reporters during a video conference Monday night, as seen on NESN. “If we didn’t get the return that we were holding out for then we wouldn’t have made it.

“But the only commitment that I have ever made to any player, any staff member, anyone in the office or ownership was to do what I believe was in the best for the Boston Red Sox, and this was that.”

The falling out between Devers and the Red Sox dates back to the spring, when the club asked him to move from third base to designated hitter following the signing of Alex Bregman. Things got worse after the team asked Devers to move from DH to first base after the season-ending knee injury to Triston Casas.

But after the trade, Breslow said Boston will benefit in the long run.

“I think when you consider the flexibility, the ability to give some of the younger players some run, the opportunity to maybe repackage some of the resources and fill some voids on the roster as early as approaching this year’s deadline, and being really intentional about the environment that we create for these young players to thrive in, then I do think there is a real chance that at the end of the season we’re looking back and we’ve won more games than we otherwise would have,” Breslow said.

The Red Sox are 1-1 following the Devers trade, losing Tuesday to the Seattle Mariners, 8-0.
