Former Derby County star Eiran Cashin is set to be sent out on loan by Brighton & Hove Albion, after struggling to make an impact with the Seagulls, according to the Daily Express.

The Seagulls brought in the 23-year-old from Derby in January for a fee in the region of £9m and he arrived on the south coast with great expectations following the performances he put in for the Rams.

He failed to make an immediate impact at Premier League level and was able to manage just two appearances for Fabian Hurzeler’s team though.

Now Brighton want to send the former Derby player out on loan so that he can gather more first-team experience.

Cashin does not lack suitors, with clubs from the Championship having shown interest in signing him.

Cashin played in 87 League One and 37 Championship games for Derby and knows his way around the second tier.

However, a move abroad could be on the agenda for the defender as he has interest from Germany, in the shape of the Bundesliga.

Derby County’s centre-back options

With Cashin’s immediate future almost set to be away from his parent club, it remains to be seen where he ends up when the summer transfer window shuts.

Cashin has played in both the Under-18 and Under-21 Premier League for Derby County and has 144 senior appearances for them.

It remains to be seen if Derby might be one of the Championship sides showing interest in Cashin.

John Eustace kept the Rams afloat in the Championship in the recent season and will want to strengthen to avoid a less stressful time next term.
