Tottenham fans will love what Jermain Defoe said about his Thomas Frank meeting

0 3

Jermain Defoe has delivered a rousing endorsement of Thomas Frank, telling ‘all the Tottenham fans listening’ that the club has landed a top manager.

Tottenham Hotspur finally confirmed the appointment of Thomas Frank as their new head coach on 12 June, bringing an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the club’s managerial pursuit.

Of course, Daniel Levy would be delighted to have landed his preferred candidate, after holding multiple rounds of talks with the Danish coach before an agreement was struck.

Frank arrives with a strong reputation already established in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola, speaking last season, hailed the former Brentford manager and predicted it was only a matter of time before he made the leap to a top European club.

Jermain Defoe backs Tottenham manager Thomas Frank as ‘top coach’

Securing the Tottenham Hotspur job marks a major step up for Thomas Frank, who will be eager to make an immediate impact in north London.

The expectations are high and the scrutiny even higher, but former Spurs striker Jermain Defoe is adamant that the club has chosen wisely.

He believes Thomas Frank is precisely the calibre of manager Tottenham requires to move forward.

Speaking to HaytersTV before the official announcement, Defoe said: “I spent a day with him last season. I went to Brentford with Justin Cochrane, who is the coach. I spent a day, just to watch training and how they did things there, and it was amazing. I was so impressed.”

When asked if Thomas Frank will be a good fit for Tottenham, he said: “Unbelievable! Unbelievable man, unbelievable coach. For all the Tottenham fans listening, you have got a top manager there.”

Other professionals back Frank to succeed at Spurs

Defoe is not alone in his assessment of Thomas Frank’s suitability for the Tottenham role, as former Spurs playmaker Christian Eriksen has also publicly supported the appointment of his fellow countryman Thomas Frank.

Yoane Wissa has also offered his take on Frank’s move to Spurs, suggesting that the transition will not be an issue for the Dane, but he warned that managing the egos in the Tottenham dressing room could prove to be the true test.

Harry Redknapp, meanwhile, has taken a swipe at certain Tottenham players, accusing them of underperforming for previous managers only to offer emotional tributes once those coaches are sacked.

Thomas Frank will be hoping that is not his fate in the Spurs dugout, as he leads Tottenham into a new era.
