Manchester United face competition from Tottenham in race for electric Ghanaian winger

0 17

Tottenham are making moves behind the scenes as they are reported to have stepped up their pursuit of one explosive Bournemouth forward.

Tottenham Hotspur look set to complete their 16th managerial appointment since 2001 this season, with Thomas Frank’s deal soon to be finalised.

Attention would then turn to on-pitch planning, as Spurs look to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, with the Lilywhites expected to compete across multiple competitions.

While rival clubs have been busy completing signings, Tottenham have been left behind, as they are yet to make any other additions to their squad, since Spurs confirmed the permanent purchase of Kevin Danso from RC Lens.

Tottenham step up interest in Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo

Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports is now reporting that Tottenham have been stepping up their interest in Bournemouth winger, Antoine Semenyo.

The Ghanaian forward, who is capable of playing on both the right and the left, impressed at the Vitality Stadium last season, where he scored 13 goals and provided 7 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for the Cherries.

Antoine Semenyo Stats (Premier League 2024-25)
Appearances:37
Goals:11
Expected goals (xG):9.98
Scoring frequency:292min
Assists:5
Big chances created:11

Spurs have been linked with a move for Semenyo for some time now, with interest going back to the winter window.

However, it is now being claimed by the journalist that Manchester United are also admirers of Semenyo, despite their interest in Bryan Mbeumo, which has seen the Red Devils put in a bid for the Brentford man.

Spurs also eye Bryan Mbeumo as competition heats up

Tottenham are also said to be showing interest in Bryan Mbeumo, with reports stating that Thomas Frank has asked the Spurs hierarchy to try to sign Mbeumo this summer, as he is keen to reunite with the 25-year-old.

Mbeumo’s numbers last season are certainly better than Semenyo’s, as the Brentford star notched 20 goals and eight assists in 38 Premier League games for the Bees.

However, as mentioned earlier, United is also in the race for the winger, who is said to be valued at around £50 million by Brentford.

Indeed, it is an interesting situation brewing between these two players and the two clubs, and it is one to keep an eye on.
