Chelsea and Arsenal in Tug-of-War for Valencia Starlet Cristhian Mosquera

0 4

Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly set to go head-to-head in the race to sign highly-rated Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera this summer.

According to CaughtOffside, both London giants have identified the 20-year-old as a key defensive target. Chelsea are expected to take the first step by initiating talks with Valencia, hoping to beat Arsenal to his signature.

Mosquera, a Spanish youth international, has enjoyed a breakout season in La Liga, making 36 appearances in 37 games and cementing himself as a defensive cornerstone for Valencia. With just 12 months remaining on his contract, the Spanish club are open to selling him now rather than risk losing him on a free next summer — with a reported asking price of around €25 million.

Arsenal and Chelsea See Mosquera as a Key Addition

The Gunners view Mosquera as a potential replacement for Jakub Kiwior, who could depart this summer. Mikel Arteta’s side have kept tabs on the young defender for months and believe he could be a valuable long-term investment.

Chelsea, under new manager Enzo Maresca, are building a squad centred on youth and potential — and Mosquera fits that model perfectly. He could slot straight into the first team and may be seen as a more dependable option compared to Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile, or the injury-prone Wesley Fofana.

With interest growing across Europe, the battle between Arsenal and Chelsea could intensify quickly. One thing is clear: Mosquera’s future looks destined to be in the Premier League.
