Yes, the riot pretty much set in stone our relegation 12 months later.

If I remember correctly, Coombs gave Saunders a transfer kitty of £500,000 in the summer, which to me as a kid seemed huge, but Saunders, not unreasonably, wanted more.

Then, a few weeks later, Coombs withdrew the offer, saying he needed the money for ground improvements following the riot, and even pretended that he thought we didn't need the transfer money because we were good enough to stay up without it. So we ended up with Lee Jenkins. ????
