Tottenham Hotspur reveal plans for tifo display at Europa League final

0 5

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed plans for a fan-led flag and tifo display at the San Mames for the Europa League final in an effort to galvanise their players and create an intimidating atmosphere against Manchester United.

This season has been one to forget domestically for the Lilywhites, with Tottenham breaking their club record for the most defeats in a Premier League season.

However, all that will be forgotten if they can beat Manchester United on Wednesday and get their hands on the Europa League trophy, which would be just the fourth time the club have won a European trophy in their 143-year history.

The anticipation is building ahead of the final, and while around 15,000 fans from each side will be in attendance, according to reports, another 15,000 Spurs fans will make the trip to Bilbao without tickets.

Before the match, the fan-organised THFC Flags movement will also be handing out scarves in the fan zone to supporters.

THFC Flags played a huge part in organising the tifo for the Tottenham vs Bodo/Glimt semi-final first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier in the competition..

Tottenham announce flag and tifo display for Europa League final

Tottenham have now sent an email to the 15,000 lucky fans who will be in attendance at the San Mames to help out in creating an atmosphere that will galvanise their players.

The club have asked fans to be in their seats 15 minutes before kick-off, which is scheduled for 8pm UK time.

They reveal that the supporters will find a tifo card or a waver flag on their seat. Fans have been asked to either hold up their card or wave their flag as the teams walk out from the tunnel and through the entirety of the Europa League anthem.

Tottenham have also urged all their supporters to dress in white in an effort to turn their section of the stadium into a sea of white.

Tottenham fans will be making all the noise at Bilbao

While both clubs are desperate to get their hands on the trophy after their disastrous season domestically, there is no doubt that the final would mean more to Spurs fans, who have seen their club go trophyless for the last 17 years.

I would fully expect the Tottenham faithful to out-sing their United counterparts ahead of kick-off and during the game.

However, fans will be hoping that Spurs do not start the match as badly as they did against Liverpool in the 2019 Champions League final, as that could kill the atmosphere and allow the United fans to find their voice.
