Celtics Rumors: Jaylen Brown Played Through This Injury In Postseason

Jaylen Brown shouldered greater responsibility in the final two games against the New York Knicks, but the Boston Celtics star had more weight to handle for months.

ESPN senior writer Ramona Shelburne reported Saturday that Brown played through the postseason and the final month of the regular season with a partial meniscus tear. The Celtics star will have further evaluations this week to discuss the potential need for surgery.

The Celtics already lost Jayson Tatum in Game 4 to a ruptured Achilles that could keep him out deep into next season. Kristaps Porzingis labored down the court with the effects of a mysterious illness. Now, Brown could have a summer of rehab ahead.

Brown made his fourth All-Star Game this season with a third consecutive selection. He averaged 22.2 points per game in another strong season for the Celtics. He added 22.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in the postseason prior to Boston’s second-round exit at the hands of the New York Knicks in six games.
