Watch Outstanding Home Run Robbery By Red Sox Outfielders

Red Sox outfielders Wilyer Abreu and Ceddanne Rafaela combined for what could be the best catch of the season.

Tigers designated hitter Kerry Carpenter stepped up to the plate with the game tied 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Red Sox reliever Liam Hendriks sent a 95 MPH four-seam fastball over the plate that Carpenter crushed to right field.

What happened next sent the crowd, the broadcasters, and even the players into disbelief.

Abreu jumped as the ball was headed out of the park, getting the heel of his glove in the way; however, instead of the ball making it over the wall, it fell into Rafaela’s waiting hand for the out.

The play was reviewed, and the call on the field stood. The Red Sox duo of Abreu and Rafaela successfully pulled off the tip drill and highway robbery.

Another highlight was watching Jarren Duran join Abreu and Rafaela in center field, laughing as they watched the replay at Comerica Park.
